Central Elementary students collect money at their garage sale

While many students spent their fall break relaxing, several caring stingrays from Central Elementary spent their time working to help fellow students. Sisters Lily and Josie Smith and Lily and Lyla Bauer set up a stand and had a garage sale – for a good cause. “We sold toys and old CD’s and bracelets and magazines,” said Lily Smith. “We chose to donate some of the money to the school. Dr. Johnson is going to help us pick out some things to buy for a family that had a fire over fall break.”

Assistant Principal Dr. Ladonna Johnson says the family that experienced the fire will be surprised by the donation, and explains that kindness and responsibility are the Stingray way. “Their teacher brought them to my office and explained that they had a donation for Central. These two ladies are quite the decorators, so we will create a nice basket to give to the family. They are selfless, and we’re very proud of our girls.”
